NRC MD Comrade Opeifa Hits The Ground Running

..........Secures Expansion of Cargo Movement with APM Terminals

The newly appointed Managing Director of the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) Comrade Kayode Opeifa has secured a deal to commence the expansion of cargo movement from Apapa Port, Lagos to NRC freight yard Moniya Ibadan, Oyo State.

The expansion of cargo movement from the Apapa port Lagos was sealed after a meeting between the management team of NRC led by the MD Comrade Opeifa and the CEO of APM Terminals Nigeria, Frederik Klinke and the CCO Caroline Aubert-Adewuyi at the NRC headquarters in Ebute Metta, Lagos.

The team of APM Terminals Nigeria were on a congratulatory and working visit to the new MD of NRC, to seek collaboration for effective business relationship. The CEO APM Terminals emphasized his organization position as the foremost transporter of container freight in the country and a major partner with the Nigerian Railway Corporation.

He equally highlighted the strategic advantage Nigeria holds, being surrounded by a number of landlocked neighbouring countries and thus creating an opportunity to serve as a hub for importation of containerized goods. The APMT management assured the NRC of greater efficiency in turnaround of cargo at the port and the expansion of the use of rail for cargo evacuation and export through APM Terminals.

In his own remarks, the MD of NRC Comrade Opeifa expressed appreciation to APM Terminal for it's partnership with NRC which date back to decades. He affirmed that ‘’this business collaboration is going to be a win win affair for both parties, as we are going to work for the satisfaction of not only the APMT, but all who intend to do business using Railways’’.

He went further to state that all stakeholders including the media will be extensively deployed to sensitize and encourage people and businesses to make greater use of the rail system, which will invariably translate into drastically reducing the cost of goods and services and also increase the gross domestic product (GDP) by providing food security, which is in line with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR) administration.
