FAM Sues For Peace As Political parties Go Into Primary Elections
THE Father Abraham Movement, FAM, a civic awareness and policy-support platform, has called on all political parties in Nigeria to maintain the peace as they go into the primary elections stages later this month in the run up to the 2027 general elections.
This call was made by the body's national coordinator, Olorogun Ovoke Idogun recently when he led the FAM family on a humanitarian visit to Agbarha community in Delta state.
Olorogun Idogun admonished politicians to shun violence and follow party rules and regulations to ensure a peaceful and seamless process. “The 2027 elections is on top of us already as all political parties prepare for primary elections this month in line with the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, timetable. So, I am using this medium to call on all politicians, aspirants, leaders and party faithful to maintain the peace and follow laid down rules and regulations of their various parties to ensure that the process comes out fair and credible in the eyes of Nigerians and the international community.”
He is however confident that the ruling party, the All Progressives Congress, APC, will get it right “as the president of the country and head of the party, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, is firmly in control of things and has directed that the process comes out fair and credible to all involved. So, this call is directed specifically at the opposition parties because of the news of internal divisions coming from that side. The primary elections is the first step at getting the main elections right, and the INEC has assured all Nigerians that the 2027 elections would be free, fair and transparent. The ball, as it is, is now in the court of the political parties to put their acts together and prepare adequately for the task ahead and that begins with a successful primary election.”
On the chances of Asiwaju Tinubu getting re elected, Idogun said he was not losing any sleep about that. “So as not to be seen as sounding over confident, but I must say that the 2027 election has been won and lost already and we of course have our great leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu staying on as president till 2031. FAM on it's part, is not resting on its oars as we have since December last year began our grassroots campaign and mobilisation for the president and the All Progressives Congress. We have been selling the achievements of the president and the party since 2023 when the Tinubu took over to the people at the grassroots. At FAM, our style is to focus on promoting public understanding of governance, reforms, and leadership direction in Nigeria, with calm and reasoned support for the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Our core driving force is credible, and informed support for the president and the ruling party. We believe patience, stability, and understanding of governance processes are more effective than emotional or confrontational messaging and that is why our vision is to support a Nigeria where citizens are better informed and more confident in governance and long-term national development. Our mission statement is to promote awareness and understanding of governance and policy reforms through calm communication, public sensitization, and responsible engagement.”
The FAM family also recently donated essential items to patients of the Central Hospital, Ughelli, Delta State as part of its humanitarian pursuit for good of society. It also went to different markets in Abuja and Delta state to support small scale business owners as well as educate them on the need to support the ongoing reforms of president Tinubu which are beginning to yield some dividends even though they may seem harsh, but are for the greater good of the Nigerian society.
