CDHR CLARIFICATION ON ITS NATIONAL LEADERSHIP
*RE: CLARIFICATION ON THE LEADERSHIP OF THE COMMITTEE FOR THE DEFENCE OF HUMAN RIGHTS (CDHR)*
The attention of the Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR) has been drawn to misleading reports and claims circulating in the media regarding the leadership of the organisation.
We wish to state categorically that Mr. Debo Adeniran remains the legitimate National President of the CDHR and is fully in charge of the organisation, including its national secretariat, Right House against the circulating news of one imposter taking over our National office.
For the avoidance of doubt, the Constitution of the CDHR expressly empowers only the National President to convene and preside over the Annual General Conference (AGC). Any purported AGC convened without the authorisation, presence, or delegation of the National President is unconstitutional, invalid, and of no legal effect.
In line with this constitutional provision, the valid and constitutionally recognised AGC of the CDHR was held on January 24, 2026, at Maridom Palace Hotel, Ota, Ogun State, where Mr. Debo Adeniran was duly re-elected as National President alongside other members of the National Executive Committee which includes Godwin Anyebe as Vice President; Deji Adebowale, General Secretary; Imrana Yahaya, Assistant Secretary; Akinrinade Wahab, Treasurer; Naabulobari Naazigha-Lue, Legal Adviser; Onyibe Jeremiah, Publicity Secretary; and Musa Turare, Internal Auditor.. This conference followed due process, complied fully with the provisions of the CDHR Constitution, and remains the most credible and lawful election conducted by the organisation.
The public, partners, stakeholders, and the general public are therefore strongly advised to disregard any individual or group parading themselves as the National President or leadership of the CDHR outside the outcome of the Ota AGC which produced Debo Adeniran as the national President and other executives. Such claims are misleading, unconstitutional, and do not represent the position or authority of the organisation.
The CDHR remains committed to its core mandate of defending human rights, promoting democracy, and upholding the rule of law, and will not allow internal misrepresentation or unconstitutional actions to distract us from this mission.
Signed,
Comrade Debo Adeniran
National President CDHR
Comrade Deacon Jeremiah Onyibe
National Publicity Secretary
CDHR
