GOVERNOR AIYEDATIWA TAKES CHARGE, INTERVENES IN ILAJE SECURITY SITUATION; CALLS FOR CALM AND SHELVING OF PROTEST*
The Ondo State Government, under the proactive leadership of His Excellency, Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, is fully aware of the recent security incidents in the communities of Obejedo, Obe-adun, and Obe-nla in Ilaje Local Government Area, involving personnels of the Nigerian Navy Forward Operating Base (FOB), Igbokoda.
The Governor views the allegations of brutality, harassment, and destruction of property with utmost seriousness. He is deeply concerned about the welfare and safety of all residents of Ondo State, and the people of Ilaje in particular.
To this end, His Excellency, Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has moved swiftly and is already on top of the situation. The Governor has constituted a high-powered Intervention Committee to thoroughly assess the matter and proffer a lasting solution.
This Committee is headed by the Executive Chairman of Ilaje Local Government, Hon. Maurice Oripenaye, and has been mandated to:
1. Conduct an *on-the-spot assessment and visitation* to the affected communities to ascertain the true situation and extent of the incidents.
2. Liaise with relevant authorities to *secure the immediate release of any individuals arrested* during the operations.
3. Convene a meeting of *all critical stakeholders*, including community leaders, youth representatives, and security agencies, to foster dialogue and peaceful resolution.
4. Ensure that a comprehensive report is submitted to the Governor to guide further state-level actions and investigations.
We wish to state unequivocally that the Ondo State Government, under Governor Aiyedatiwa, has fully launched a high-level investigation into this matter. The Governor is committed to ensuring that justice is served, the rule of law is upheld, and such occurrences are prevented in the future.
In light of these decisive steps already taken by the State Government, the Chairman of Ilaje Local Government, on behalf of His Excellency, passionately appeals to all well-meaning sons and daughters of Ilaje, particularly the organizers of the planned protest scheduled for Monday, 27th October 2025, to *sheathe their swords and shelve the planned rally.*
A protest at this time is unnecessary and could heighten tensions, potentially undermining the peaceful and official channels already activated by the government to resolve this issue. The government is already acting on your behalf.
We urge the good people of Ilaje to remain calm and law-abiding. Please cooperate with the Intervention Committee and provide them with the necessary information to facilitate their work. We assure you that your concerns are being addressed at the highest level of government, and your peace and security remain our paramount priority.
