Oyenike Oyekan Foundation Holds Prostrate Cancer Screening & Breast Self Examination Training in Ibadan


...... Implores beneficiaries on the need for regular check up 









A Non Governmental Organization (NGO) with focus on cancer awareness, screening and social welfare, Oyenike Oyekan foundation, today in Ibadan held a prostrate cancer screening and breast self examination training for members of the public.

The prostrate cancer screening and breast self examination training was held in collaboration with the Oyo State ministry of health which was ably represented by the head of the department of non communicable disease desk Mrs. Christiana Adedeji and her team which included a doctor and nurses as well as the matron of the Oranyan primary health centre, Ibadan and her medical team.

The programme attracted men and women of different occupation and ages, who came to take advantage of the service to humanity gesture of the Oyenike Oyekan foundation.

In his welcome address, Oyenike Oyekan Foundation media consultant Nelson Ekujumi, congratulated the participants for being beneficiaries of the free prostate cancer screening and breast self examination training which is crucial in the fight against cancer, just as he urged them to partner with his organization by becoming ambassadors to share information and educate friends, colleagues and family members on the knowledge acquired at today's programme.

In the prelude to the free prostate cancer screening for men and the breast self examination training for women, the host and matron of Oranyan primary health centre Mrs. Ayoade Fatiat Olufunke while delivering the lecture on prostrate and breast cancer, congratulated the beneficiaries and admonished them on the need for regular medical check to examine their health status.

The highlights of the occasion was the free prostate cancer screening for the men, while the women on their part, were taken through the drills of breast self examination. At the end of the prostrate cancer screening, the beneficiaries were counseled by the medical experts depending on the state of their results.

At the end of the programme, the beneficiaries lauded Oyenike Oyekan foundation for the programme which has enabled them to know their prostrate status and the way forward.
