HURIDAC Launches Eye Project


  - Aims to promote positive youth engagement in democracy 





The Human Rights Advancement, Development and Advocacy Centre (HURIDAC), which is a West Africa Subregion human rights and environmental concern organization, today in lagos launched the "Eye Project" which is focused on promoting youth engagement in governance among other goals in order to deepen our democracy.


The event which took place in Lagos, drew participants otherwise referred to as focal points participants from youths constituencies across Lagos State for a one day training and launch. The focal points participants are youths drawn from institutions of learning such as the University of Lagos, Lagos State University, Yaba College of Technology, Nigerian Institute of Journalism, National Association of Nigerian Students Lagos chapter, youth leaders from local government council areas, National Youth Council of Nigeria and faith based organizations youth councils among others.


The program manager of Eye Project Ms Mfon Enoidem in welcoming the focal points participants to the training and launch of the programme, informed them that the project is a collaboration between HURIDAC and Nigeria Women Trust Council with the support of MacArthur foundation.


She went on to educate the participants that the purpose of the project launch is to initiate them with the goals and vision of the project which is centered around increasing youth participation in politics, enable advocacy for transparent and accountable elections, holding politicians accountable for elections promises, showcase positive outcomes of youth participation in politics, combat voters apathy among others.


Ms Mfon Enoidem informed the focal points persons that they were chosen on merit and that it is expected that they will also adopt that strict and diligent procedure in recruiting persons of similar pedigree to be ambassadors of the Eye Project in their various constituencies in order to drive up the youths participation in politics.


The Eye Project will involve series of trainings, workshops, seminars, etc to empower and stimulate the youths interest in politics across Lagos State over the next one year as we countdown to the 2027 general elections.


The highlight of the launch was the donning of Eye Project shirts by the focal points participants who then took a group photograph to kickstart the project.
