*Ademola Adeleke,When Will You Become a Governor?*

*Ademola Adeleke,When Will You Become a Governor?*

Gov. Ademola Jackson Adeleke

By Tokunbo Adegboyega

Leadership at any level, is not by the decorative labels or nomenclatures but by the ability to justifiably handle the thrust and the engaging responsibilities in the position so given or occupied.Yes! Office does not make man, it's man that makes and defines the directions and the intricacies of the office.

It's not the size of a man that makes him/her an oga in an office. Rather, it's the size of the value he/she attaches to it; his/her mental alertness and the ability to interpret even beyond the enshrined roles of the office that makes it worthy of whatever it is called.

Governance is a serious business which is mostly never undertaking by proxy. Even when powers are structurally devolved, the designated leader still takes charge. This is why the aphorism; 'when you are in charge, you are responsible', holds sway the world over.

Definitely, where there's no hierarchy, anarchy rules.Yes! What presently exist in Osun is a facade. In no distant date in the state if the situation remains unchanged and urgently too, the center stage may crumble in the absence of someone to take concrete and definite charge.

There's umbrage everywhere in Osun today and this is provoked by the rudderless manner the Ademola Adeleke administration is paddling the affairs of the state.Coming from these optics, the people's resentment and pugnacity can be perfectly understood.

Everybody knows that the 'personas muta' of Ademola's administration are his elder brother and sister, Dr Deji and Dupe respectively, with the latter ostensibly taking the shots. This is because they know that their junior one (Ademola) is henpecked. As such, they dictate to him what to do, what to say, how and where. This is because they know his mental limitations.

Pray! My Osun, your Osun, our Osun and their Osun, is sadly and uncomfortably on a free fall because of lack of leadership. In Osun, our 'arabi gomina' is on AWOL and shall be so till his tenure ends.

The reason for this is simple:Before the July 16,2022 governorship election in the state, many feared that given the spineless nature of Ademola Adeleke summed up in his mental emptiness, Osun would be in for it.Truly as predicted and feared, the state has today become a laughing stock in the country.

This is because Ademola; my governor, your governor, our governor and their governor who was forced down on our throats through the power of money, despite all the 'packaging', can still not stand on his own to articulate a definable position on Osun. He is yet to be weaned off from his 'parents'(Dr Deji and Dupe) who are his siblings.

They are the ones in charge. In fact, it's a common knowledge in the state today that Dupe, his elder sister, is the defacto governor. She calls the shots;her words are laws. She determines who gets what, how and where. In fact, woe betides anyone who has already gained or seeking anything from their domain which many have chosen to call Adeleke Peoples Party or Country home Peoples Party ( a euphemism for the ruling party in the state) if he or she does not lickspittle her. Oje tan niyen!

At her behest, can you believe that your governor who has his own mansion at their country home in Ede, is currently quartered in her(Dupe's) apartment which is also at the country home? This is done to guard the loose life of the governor and to ward off attention and favour-seekers who might want to take advantage of Ademola's known weaknesses. It's feared that if not policed like that, our man can trade away the destiny of the state in seconds with his signature. Ohun na ko,kofi se ika.

Everyone is laughing at us in and outside Osun. Agreed that in any government setting, prebendalism is allowed,it's however disheartening that ours in Osun is insipidly sauced with 'jankara and agbero' condiments. If you are in doubt, take the trouble to do a holistic content analysis of the appointments so far made by our 'arabi gomina' and you will see that it's 'iruwa ogiri wa'(the absence of quality and prime minds),kind of.

Late Fela Anikulapo, the Afrobeat maestro, ruled his musical world. His kind of genre was wrapped in an anecdotal metaphor; he was a prophet of sort. Here's one his popular song that came to mind; Zombie o, Zombie, Zombie o, Zombie. Zombie no go go unless you tell am to go, Zombie.......

Fela released this record in 1976, precisely 47 years ago when Ademola Adeleke was just 16 years old. The late 'Abami Eda'(the Weird one) never knew this kind of scenario in Osun, would arise when he sang it.

Can Ademola, my governor, famously agnamed 'The Dancing Senator', address the press unaided? Can he, on his own, speak extempore to the university community; can he be put on the spot to discuss topical issues about the state? We are not talking about disjointed and uncoordinated press releases been issued that have become boring and nauseating from the desks of his media handlers. Anyway,as Yoruba would say; 'Iru iro ni iborun'

Without doubt, these are indeed hard times for Nigerians with no exception of my people in Osun. This became aggravated by the removal of fuel subsidy which has led to spiral and bitting effects on both consumable and non-consumable goods. Many governors have rolled out palliatives to cushion the effect of the pains the people are going through. Our own Ademola Adeleke has not spoken.

The Federal Government said it has released the sum of N5 billion (five billion naira) accompanied with 3,000(three thousand) bags of rice to each of the state of the federation for distribution to the people as form palliatives.Up till now, Ademola has not said anything. Oh I forgot; Dupe has not spoken.

Instead, it's the 'Lolo buga dance' that he(Ademola) is doing all over the place as if there's an award to be won for it. This is about the only thing he can conveniently do on his own at slightest promptings of music. Even with this and on the instructions of Dupe, his security aides tell him when to stop otherwise, your governor will dance till 'mama calls'  Another sore point of his administration is the infighting currently going on within party, the PDP, over the lopsidedness of appointments he has been making through those controlling him remotely.

Through various videos that have awash the media space in the last few days, is it not funny and surprising that PDP members who protests and have axe to grind on various appointments being made on a daily basis, now throng Dupe's place in Ede instead of going to Ademola or the party secretariat in Osogbo? Indeed, we don enter one chance or 'gauu' as Yoruba dey talk am.

Ademola and his followers still bask in the euphoria of the last election, dem still dey do Lolo Buga Won as sang by kizz Daniel. They have forgotten that it was contentiously a tenuous victory

Regrettably,he came on the threshold of changing the fortunes of Osun and its people, using the so called wealth of Dr Deji as the bargaining chips. Unfortunately today, this has become a mere conjectural banality; nothing new but a drab sloganeering of a darken and blurry light they call Imole. Anyway, the people of Osun are now wiser.

With the way things are going, our dancing governor has successfully put our dear state on the backfoot, especially with his now-monotonous usual  Lolo Buga Dance that has taken the front burner over governance in the state. Oma se oo.

The begging questions: Ademola Adeleke, when will you 'assume' your office as governor of our dear state, Osun?

Ademola Adeleke, when will you become a governor in the true sense of that word?
