FEDERAL MINISTRY OF WORKS MOVES SWIFTLY TO ADDRESS EROSION CHALLENGE AT OBA

The Federal Ministry of Works has commenced immediate remedial works to address the erosion challenge around the interchange close to the Second Niger Bridge, Oba, Anambra State, following a public alert about the condition of the site on social media.

Upon being informed of the situation, the Honourable Minister of Works, Senator Engr. David Umahi, CON, immediately directed that the matter be attended to without delay.

True to that directive, men and equipment have been mobilised to the site, with remedial works already ongoing to address the washout, restore the affected area and protect the road infrastructure from further deterioration.

The swift intervention is part of the Federal Ministry of Works’ commitment to proactive infrastructure management. Roads are not merely constructed and abandoned. They must be continuously monitored, maintained and protected, particularly where emerging challenges could threaten their integrity or the safety of road users.

The Minister has consistently emphasised the importance of responding promptly to infrastructure challenges, and this intervention is another practical demonstration of that approach.

The Minister appreciates the members of the public who brought the situation to its attention. Constructive feedback of this nature is valuable in helping government identify emerging challenges and take timely and appropriate action.
