Osun Guber 2026: DGGWI Commends President Tinubu,INEC, Security Agencies and Osun People for Peaceful Election
The President and Commander in chief of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies and the people of Osun State have all been commended for the peaceful manner in which the gubernatorial election held on Saturday 15th August 2026.
The commendation was given by the Democracy and Good Governance Watch Initiative (DGGWI) in a press release issued on Monday 17th August 2026 in Oshogbo, the Osun State Capital, stressing that the free and fair conduct of the election is a pointer to President Bola Tinubu's avowed commitment to credibility of the 2027 general elections.
The group in the press release, praised the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for its impartiality, professionalism and commitment to the conduct of a credible election, while the police and other security outfits were equally lauded for their professional conduct before, during and after the election,which invariably lend credence to their avowed commitment not to be involved in the process, but rather to ensure peace reigns supreme.
The people of Osun State were commended for standing firm by voting for candidates of their choice which is a reaffirmation of their trust and confidence in our electoral system.
According to the statement, "We want to commend President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, INEC and the security agencies for the peaceful and credible conduct of the 2026 gubernatorial election in Osun state. The president has once again demonstrated his commitment to the 2026 general elections ,which he has consistently maintained will be free, fair and credible".
"INEC displayed it's non partisanship and professionalism in the process, such also deserves our praise, the security agencies for their professionalism in deployment and security cover and the people of Osun State, you showed doggedness and commitment to the process which is highly commendable"
"The media and local and international observers organizations must also be commended for their faithfulness to their oath, which has contributed greatly to deepening Nigeria's democracy.
