AKINDIPE @ ONE: THREE DAYS OF IMPACT, THREE DAYS OF RENEWED HOPE IN AJIF LG

The Executive Chairman of Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government, Hon. Olalekan Olu Akindipe, has marked his first year in office with three days of impactful programmes, bringing together healthcare, social intervention, economic empowerment and landmark infrastructure development in a celebration of purposeful service to the people.

Held from Monday, August 24 to Wednesday, August 26, 2026, the anniversary was deliberately structured around the administration’s commitment to improving lives, expanding opportunities and delivering infrastructure that responds directly to the needs of residents.

DAY ONE: HEALTHCARE AND HUMAN CAPITAL

The anniversary commenced on Monday with comprehensive medical screening and free healthcare services, including screening for Cataract and Pterygium, alongside general medical checks for residents.

The Chairman also sponsored the enrolment of over 500 Ajeromi residents into the Lagos State Health Management Scheme (Ilera Eko) at no cost to the beneficiaries. The health coverage will run for one year, with beneficiaries accessing care through Ajeromi-Ifelodun General Hospital and Akere Primary Health Centre (PHC).

DAY TWO: EYE SURGERY AND SOCIAL SUPPORT

Tuesday witnessed the successful conduct of eye surgeries for over 100 residents, providing beneficiaries with renewed hope, improved vision and a better quality of life.

As part of the administration’s social intervention, over 4,000 residents and members of religious bodies received 10kg bags of rice and ₦10,000 palliative support, reaffirming the Chairman’s commitment to cushioning the economic pressures confronting families and communities.

DAY THREE: EMPOWERMENT AND TRANSFORMATIVE INFRASTRUCTURE

The grand finale on Wednesday featured the Mega Youth and Women Summit, where a broad range of empowerment items and business support packages were distributed to residents.

The empowerment package included:

1. 50 Deep Freezers

2. 50 Industrial Sewing Machines

3. 50 Tailoring Stoning Machines

4. 25 Welding Machines

5. 25 Shoe-Making Machines

6. 100 Cake Mixers

7. 25 Vulcanising Machines

8. 100 Professional Make-Up Kits and Accessories

9. 50 Solar Generators

10. Business Support Packages comprising 10 dozen plastic chairs and one standard big-size canopy each for 10 beneficiaries

11. 100 Point-of-Sale (POS) machines, each loaded with ₦100,000 working capital

12. 50 Internet Routers to support digital access and enterprise

13. 300 six kg cooking gas cylinders to support household and micro-enterprise needs

The day also witnessed the commissioning of major infrastructure projects, including the over 800-metre Oluwa Street, fitted with modern solar-powered streetlights; the Maracana Footbridge; Ajasa Motorable Bridge; Mokoya Motorable Bridge; Prince Rabiu Adio Oluwa Nursery and Primary School; and three world-class solar-powered boreholes across Wards B, H and I.

The Uweriro Street project, another major infrastructure intervention of the administration, was not commissioned during the anniversary programme and will be commissioned at a later date.

The three-day anniversary attracted an impressive array of political leaders, traditional rulers, public officials, community leaders and stakeholders who came to identify with the administration’s achievements.

Among the distinguished dignitaries were:

- Distinguished Senator Dr. (Mrs.) Idiat Oluranti Adebule, Senator representing Lagos West Senatorial District and former Deputy Governor of Lagos State, who was ably represented.

- Princess Damilola Sonayon James, APC Deputy Governorship Candidate, Lagos State, who represented Dr. Kadiri Obafemi Hamzat (KOH), APC Governorship Candidate, and commissioned the Oluwa Street project.

- Distinguished Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, former Minister of State for Defence and former Senator representing Lagos Central, who commissioned the Mokoya Motorable Bridge.

- Prince Rabiu Adio Oluwa, Member of the Lagos State Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC), who commissioned the Prince Rabiu Adio Oluwa Nursery and Primary School.

- His Royal Majesty, Oba Dr. Abdulfatai Oyeyinka Aremu Aromire (Oyegbemi II), Ojora of Ijora Land and Iganmu Kingdom, ably represented by his White-Cap Chiefs.

- His Royal Majesty, Oba Moroof Oyekunle Atanda (Amore III), Olu of Iwa and Apapa Kingdom, who commissioned the Maracana Footbridge.

- Hon. Kalejaiye Adeboye Paul (KAP), PhD, Member, House of Representatives, Ajeromi-Ifelodun Federal Constituency.

- Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, Chairman, APC Lagos State.

- Hon. Fatai Adekunle Ayoola, former Chairman of Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government, who commissioned the Ajasa Motorable Bridge.

- Hon. Sabur Akanbi Oluwa (SAO), Member, Lagos State House of Assembly, Ajeromi-Ifelodun Constituency II, alongside other distinguished Members of the Lagos State House of Assembly.

- Members of the APC Lagos State Executive Council.

- Hon. Ladi Balogun, Managing Director, Lagos State Ferry Services.

- Hon. Samuel Bassey Freedom, Director-General, Progressives Local Government Chairmen for PBAT, impressed by the achievements and giant strides of the Akindipe administration, expressed his admiration for the remarkable transformation taking place in Ajeromi and proposed that Prince Rabiu Adio Oluwa adopt him as a son of Ajeromi. The proposal was graciously accepted and granted. 

- Lagos State Women Leader for the All Progressives Congress (APC) Alhaja Iyabosola Abimbola Eletu.

- Hon. Ibrahim Adio, Ajeromi-Ifelodun APC Party Chairman.

- Alhaji Ismaila Olarenwaju Sanni, Chairman, Community Development Committee (CDC), alongside other distinguished guests, community leaders and stakeholders.

Their presence underscored the broad political, traditional and community support for the administration and its development agenda.

Speaking on the significance of the anniversary, Chairman Akindipe reaffirmed that the celebration was not merely about marking twelve months in office, but about presenting tangible evidence of what purposeful leadership can achieve when government places the people at the centre of its agenda.

He emphasised that the achievements of the administration have also been built on and sustained through the foundations laid by past administrations of the council, recognising governance as a continuum in which every administration contributes to the growth and development of Ajeromi.

From healthcare to social protection, youth and women empowerment, education, connectivity and infrastructure, the three-day anniversary reflected an administration determined to turn promises into programmes, programmes into projects, and projects into lasting impact.

For Chairman Akindipe, AKINDIPE @ ONE is therefore not simply a celebration of one year in office. It is a reaffirmation of a governing philosophy anchored on service, inclusion, opportunity and measurable development—with the people of Ajeromi firmly at the heart of the agenda.
