GBAJABIAMILA: THE SHIELD THAT STOOD FIRM — A THANK YOU TO PRESIDENT TINUBU FOR STANDING BY A LOYAL SOLDIER
By Waliu (Sola Better) Abdul, National Youth Leader, The Progressive Group
The past few weeks have been nothing short of a tempest. The so called "Gbaja‑Adeyemi Saga" has raged across our national discourse like a wildfire with allegations, counter‑allegations, and a relentless campaign of calumny orchestrated to bring down one of the most loyal and dedicated servants of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration.
But through it all, one man stood firm. One man took the bullets meant for his principal. One man, in the face of vicious and unfounded accusations, refused to buckle. That man is Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to the President and today, I write to thank President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the unwavering trust he has placed in this courageous soldier of progressive governance.
The Storm They Unleashed
Let us not mince words. What we have witnessed is a coordinated assault on the integrity of the Presidency itself, using the false narrative of a "Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council" (PFIPC) a body the Presidency has repeatedly and unequivocally declared nonexistent. A certain Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi Matthew, now standing trial on charges of forgery, impersonation, and obtaining by false pretenses, sought to drag the name of Gbajabiamila through the mud with wild allegations that have been thoroughly discredited.
The Presidency has cleared Gbajabiamila of any involvement, describing the claims as false and unsupported by official records. Police forensic analysis confirmed that the signature attributed to the Chief of Staff on the disputed appointment letter was forged. Yet the enemies of progress continued their campaign because their target was never really Gbajabiamila. Their target was President Tinubu himself.
The Bullet Catcher
Gbajabiamila understood this from the very beginning. He knew that the arrows were aimed at his principal, and he stepped forward to catch every single one. He was the first official to publicly disown Adeyemi and his phantom organization. He immediately alerted security agencies when fake appointment letters were discovered. He has threatened legal action to defend his name and, by extension, the integrity of the Presidency he serves.
This is the mark of a true hero not someone who runs from fire, but someone who runs toward it to protect his leader. Gbajabiamila's loyalty to President Tinubu is not a recent phenomenon. It has withstood the test of time from the days of the June 12 struggle, through Tinubu's tenure as Governor of Lagos State, and to his emergence as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Over two decades, he has remained faithful to his mentor, never wavering in his commitment.
Tinubu's Trust A Leader Who Knows His Soldiers
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is not a man who abandons his loyalists in the face of adversity. He understands the politics of calumny. He knows that when the enemy cannot attack the king directly, they go for his most trusted lieutenants.
And so, even as the enemies of progress demanded Gbajabiamila's head, President Tinubu did something remarkable: he appointed Gbajabiamila as Chairman of the Presidential Working Group on the National Policing Bill. At the very peak of the controversy, the President demonstrated his absolute confidence in his Chief of Staff not with mere words, but with action.
This is leadership. This is the kind of trust that builds movements, strengthens administrations, and crushes the machinations of detractors. President Tinubu has shown that he is not swayed by the noise of opportunistic politicians and their agents of destabilization. He sees clearly. He knows who is loyal and who is not. And he rewards loyalty with loyalty.
Vindication Is Coming
To those who have orchestrated this wicked campaign against Gbajabiamila: your days are numbered. The truth is already emerging. The courts will do their work. And when the dust settles, Gbajabiamila will not only be vindicated — he will emerge stronger, more respected, and more formidable than ever before.
The enemies who thought they could bring him down will themselves be crushed. Their schemes will be exposed. Their motives rooted in envy, political desperation, and a hatred for the progress this administration represents will be laid bare for all Nigerians to see. The Nigeria Democratic Congress and other opportunistic groups that called for his head will be remembered as agents of distraction, not agents of change.
A Word to Nigerian Youth
As National Youth Leader of The Progressive Group, I call on the young people of this nation to learn from this saga. Learn what loyalty means. Learn what sacrifice means. Learn that in the face of adversity, true leaders stand firm. Gbajabiamila has shown us that standing with your principal, even when the bullets are flying, is the mark of a true progressive.
President Tinubu has shown us that a leader who trusts his soldiers, who does not abandon them to the wolves, is a leader worth following.
The Progressive Move: Tinubu for Second Term
Now, let us talk about the bigger picture.
This saga has proven beyond doubt that President Tinubu is a leader of uncommon courage and unwavering loyalty to those who serve him faithfully. He does not yield to blackmail. He does not sacrifice his soldiers to please the mob. He stands firm — and that is exactly the kind of leadership Nigeria needs beyond 2027.
The enemies who plotted against Gbajabiamila are the same forces that will fight to stop this administration from completing its transformation agenda. They want to distract, destabilise, and ultimately truncate the Renewed Hope vision before it fully matures. But we, the progressives, refuse to let that happen.
President Tinubu has already laid the foundation: economic reforms, security re‑engineering, infrastructure development, and institutional strengthening. These are not four‑year projects; they require continuity, stability, and the consolidation that only a second term can guarantee.
We call on every Nigerian who believes in progress, who values loyalty, and who wants to see the dividends of this administration fully realised: stand with Tinubu in 2027. Let us give him the mandate to finish the good work he has started. Let us reject the chaos merchants who tried to bring down Gbaja — they will try again, but with our votes, we will crush their ambitions once and for all.
A second term for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is not just a political choice; it is the progressive choice. It is the choice of stability over uncertainty, of vision over reaction, of trust over treachery.
