LAGOS STATE URBAN RENEWAL AGENCY SHOWCASES MAJOR URBAN REGENERATION ACHIEVEMENTS
The Lagos State Urban Renewal Agency (LASURA), has highlighted its significant achievements and ongoing urban regeneration initiatives of the agency while featuring as guest on Radio Lagos Eko 107.5 fm , radio program tagged "Ojuko Ijoba ati Arailu" Citizensgate.

The General Manager LASURA; Dr. Animashaun Oladimeji reaffirmed commitment to transforming Lagos into a sustainable smart city through strategic urban renewal programmes aimed at improving living conditions, infrastructure, and socio-economic opportunities across blighted and underserved communities in the State.
He said, LASURA established in 1991 has continues to play a pivotal role in identifying, upgrading, and regenerating slum communities while implementing policies and strategies to curb the proliferation of slums in Lagos State.
As part of its achievements recorded the agency had embarked on several impactful projects including the relocation, revitalisation, and redevelopment of major markets such as Katangowa Market, Ademuyiwa Market, Jankara Market, Gorodome Market, Maboreje Market, and Pelewura Market.
In the area of infrastructure renewal, the agency currently has seventy ongoing road projects spread across Ten Local Government Areas and Local Council Development Areas within the State. Several of the projects are already nearing completion, while others have been completed and await commissioning.
Some of the major road intervention projects include Market Street, Gentry Street, and Willoughby Street in Oyingbo; Oremeji Street in Bariga; Adepegba Street in Ifako-Ijaiye; as well as several roads in Ojokoro, Surulere, Ibeju-Lekki, and Ebute-Metta West which is ready for commissioning any time from now.
The Agency also highlighted the successful completion and handover of Wing A of the newly constructed 24-flat Isale-Gangan Staff Housing Project located on Lagos Island to the Office of the Head of Service. The housing facility comprises modern two-bedroom and three-bedroom apartments designed to improve the welfare and comfort of Lagos State public servants.
Additionally, LASURA announced the groundbreaking ceremony for the Adeniji Adele Housing Estate Phase I project, a multi-storey residential development aimed at expanding quality housing infrastructure within the State.
As part of its property management and revenue drive initiatives, the Agency has intensified efforts towards rent recovery campaigns, recovery of suspected LASURA properties, digitization of tenancy records, and improved electronic documentation systems to enhance accountability and revenue generation.
Dr.Animashaun further disclosed ongoing regeneration plans and schemes across several communities including Ibeju-Lekki, Epe, Alimosho, Mainland, Bariga, Ifelodun, Kosofe, Lagos Island, and other parts of the State. "These involved all inclusive stakeholders meetings to ensure the people are parts of the project decision and gets what they needed', he said.
Looking ahead, the General Manager stated that its future projections include continuous identification and mapping of slum communities, strengthening stakeholder engagement, digitization and verification of all LASURA properties, enhanced revenue recovery mechanisms, and the implementation of inclusive regeneration strategies in line with global best practices.
The Agency reiterated its dedication to creating safer, more resilient, and economically vibrant communities that align with the developmental vision of the Lagos State Government.
