AN ACCEPTANCE SPEECH DELIVERED BY ASIWAJU MUNIRUDEEN BOLA OYEBAMIJI FCIB, ON HIS EMERGENCE AS THE OSUN GOVERNORSHIP CANDIDATE OF THE ALL PROGRESSIVES CONGRESS (APC) AT THE PRIMARY ELECTION HELD ON THE 13TH OF DECEMBER 2025 IN OSOGBO, OSUN STATE

Protocol: Your Excellencies, distinguished ladies and gentlemen. I am honoured to stand before you this afternoon to accept this nomination as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Osun State Governorship election to be held on 8th August 2026. While I thank the Almighty Allah for this day, I would like to specially appreciate our leaders who have travelled from numerous locations to Osun for this assignment.  I recognize and appreciate the efforts of all members of the Osun primary election committee for delivering an incident-free primary election today.

Distinguished listeners, you are all aware of how we arrived at where we are today. After expressing my intention to run as the flagbearer of our great party in the 2026 governorship election, we consulted with our leaders and stakeholders across the state and beyond. Subsequently, I presented myself to the NWC of our party for screening. Following this rigorous process, it has become my lot to stand before you this afternoon as your candidate for the 2026 Governorship election. To the glory of God and with the support of numerous APC party faithful. Consequently, I am eternally grateful to His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, our Leader and Compass, for his support and faith in the entire members of the All Progressives Congress in Osun State and me. I appreciate the National Chairman of our great party, APC Prof.  Nentawe Yilwatda, the National Secretary Senator Ajibola Bashiru, and the entire National Working Committee. I am equally indebted to our great mentor and father, His Excellency Baba Bisi Akande, for his commitment to ensuring that the Progressive Party reclaims its rightful position in Osun state politics.

Also, words cannot express how grateful I am to my leader and mentor, His Excellency, Dr. Adegboyega Oyetola, CON, the Honourable Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, for his passion, support, and unrelenting efforts at ensuring that the Osun APC remains a formidable force even though we were in the opposition.

Similarly, my appreciation goes to the Igbimo Agba Osun, the elders’ caucus of our party, ably led by Engineer Sola Akinwunmi, for standing firm when it mattered. Of tremendous value are the contributions of all our party structures, particularly the State Chairman, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal, and his Executive Council, including the local government, ward, and unit executive councils.

Also worthy of mention is the unrelenting commitment of my co-aspirants who have sacrificed their personal ambitions for the continued progress of our party. I appreciate the leaders and members of the AMBO movement in Osun State and beyond. Your individual efforts and collective resolve played a significant role in achieving today’s success.Ladies and gentlemen, as a people, we stand once again at the threshold of history. Our state, Osun, is presently at a crossroads between real progress and frivolity, between accountability and wastefulness. We have been summoned once more to reevaluate our stand as a people. Where all-round education is the pillar upon which our existence revolves.

Our founding fathers had their intentions clearly mapped out. They desired a society where systems work. A community where shared economic prosperity is at the core of public policy. We are committed to elevating the standard of living for every Osun resident by alleviating poverty, eradicating hunger, and promoting a functional educational system for all. The health system in Osun State is currently moribund; we intend to revitalise it, thereby reducing the need for medical tourism.
