A coalition of civil society and non governmental organizations, the Coalition for Good Governance (CGG) has lauded the federal government and the security agencies for the timely rescue of the 38 abducted worshippers of Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) Eruku, Kwara State, 51 students of St Mary's Private and Primary School Papiri, Niger State and the 24 students of Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School Maga, Kebbi State.

In a press release signed by the coalition leaders, the group noted that, "We commend President Bola Tinubu for keeping to his words of ensuring the release of all abducted persons by the rescue of our students and worshippers". It was also full of praises for the security agencies, "For rising up to the occasion in executing to the latter, the President and Commander in Chief orders, to rescue the abducted persons".

According to Nelson Ekujumi the group's spokesperson, "While we condemn and are saddened by the trauma inflicted on the psyche of Nigerians, parents, family members and the abducted persons, we give glory to God, that the joy of the evil doers and their hailers have been short-lived by the gallantry and dedication to duty of our security agencies".

The group then used the opportunity of the release, to call on the security agencies to redouble their efforts in ensuring that Mr President promise of the safety of lives and properties of Nigerians is guaranteed at all times.

The coalition also had words of admonition for the other tiers of government and the civil populace, it charged states and local governments to live up to their primary responsibility of securing the lives and properties of citizens and stop abdicating the responsibility to only the Federal government.

"States and local governments just like the federal government have a constitutional responsibility for the security and welfare of Nigerians residing within their jurisdiction and so we wonder why they continue to pretend as though, security and welfare is not their priority?"

The group called on the citizens to rise up to the challenge of the nation's security by recognizing the imperative need to work collaboratively with security agencies in order to secure us all, by shunning divisive tendencies and divulging information at all times to expose the sponsors and agents of crime against the state.

The group also commiserated with the families of those who lost their lives during the satanic abductions, it prayed that God should give them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss, grant the departed eternal rest and heal the injured.

In another vein, the Coalition for Good Governance (CGG) has commended the judiciary for it's bold and commendable dispensation of justice to the memories of innocent Nigerians who lost their lives, limbs, properties destroyed and suffered the trauma inflicted by the terrorist activities of the proscribed terrorist organization IPOB/ESN led by convicted international terrorist Nnamdi Kanu.

CGG was full of commendation for Justice James Omotosho of the federal high court Abuja for his perseverance in enduring the shenanigans, theatrics, abuse and insults from Nnamdi Kanu while the trial lasted.

According to Nelson Ekujumi, "By the conviction and sentencing of international terrorist Nnamdi Kanu to life imprisonment for terrorism which resulted in the kidnap of innocent Nigerians, sacking of communities, loss of thousands of lives of security agents and civilians, burning and destruction of properties worth billions of naira, and other heinous crimes too numerous to mention, the judiciary has once again lived up to it's integrity and image as the last hope of the common man for justice".

However, the group condemned in strong terms, the calls from certain quarters for a political solution and release of the convicted and sentenced international terrorist Nnamdi Kanu. According to the group, "We condemn in the strongest terms the irresponsible, reckless, ill motivated, conscienceless and condemnable calls by some unpatriotic persons for the release of the international terrorist Nnamdi Kanu". It went further to state that, "We regard such calls as selfish, inhuman, satanic, insensitive, provocative and symbolizes dancing on the graves of those murdered by the terrorist organization IPOB acting on the orders of Nnamdi Kanu".

The Coalition commended President Bola Tinubu for following in the footsteps of his predecessor late former President Muhammadu Buhari in allowing the trial to run it's full course of the court by refusing to succumb to pressures for intervention and discontinuation of the judicial process.

The Coalition for Good Governance (CGG) restated it's charge to President Bola Tinubu to "Ignore the irresponsible, reckless, insensitive, inhuman, provocative and condemnable calls for a political solution to the crime of international terrorism committed by Nnamdi Kanu against humanity because of it's negative impact not only on Nigeria's image, but the global campaign against terrorism.

God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Thank you.
