NRC ACHIEVES SUCCESSFUL EVACUATION 7 DAYS AFTER DERAILMENT
The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has announced the successful evacuation of it's derailed Abuja Kaduna bound train locomotive and coaches, 7 days after the incident of 26th August 2025.
In a release signed by the managing director and chief executive officer of NRC Dr Kayode Opeifa, he announced that as at 2nd September 2025, 7 days after the incident, a locomotive and 4 coaches have been railed back from the site to the Idu station for assessment.
Dr. Opeifa also released the manifest of passengers aboard the derailed locomotive and coaches and the casualty figures. He equally announced the establishment of dedicated hotlines for inquiries and updates with the general public on the incident.
Comrade Kayode Opeifa the MD of NRC appreciated NRC engineers, security agencies and emergency responders for their role in ensuring a smooth safe and disruptive free recovery operations. He also lauded the media for being a critical and supportive partner in this challenging period.
The minister of transportation Senator Saidu Ahmed Alkali was equally lauded by the management of NRC for his physical visit to the incident site and commendation to the NRC for it's recovery operations.
The NRC MD assured it's esteemed customers and the general public of the resumption of train services on the route as soon as possible, without compromising service reliability, passengers safety and comfort.
