How Shameless Can Political Party Leaders Be?
Following the FCTA sealing up of PDP Abuja headquarters among other defaulters for being in arrears of ground rent, I watched in utter amazement and disbelief the shamelessness of the party's acting national chairman Damagum & Chief Bode George rant against the FCT authority for enforcing the law.
To say that I was embarrassed by the irresponsibility displayed on national television by these two leaders of the PDP who called the FCTA all sorts of names and described the action of enforcing the law against defaulters of payment of ground rent of which the PDP is one among several others totalling about 4, 798 in number, as political victimization and rascality by the Nyesom Wike led administration of the FCT, is the height consciencelessness by the PDP as represented by these two men.
To remember that the PDP which was once in power in this country for 16 years at the federal level and is still in some states of the federation and yet assume that they have a right from God knows where to violate the laws of the land and not show any remorse and be sober to make amends, is the height of absurdity and Impunity that was their lot while in office at the federal level, very shameful.
The ground rent in the FCT is a statutory law binding on every land occupier and any defaulter is by statute in breach of the law which comes with prescribed penalty.
To imagine that this is the same PDP that is preaching to Nigerians that it wants to wrestle power from the ruling APC come 2027 and yet can't obey the law of the federal republic of Nigeria, speaks volume about the character and pedigree of the party and what it stands for when it comes to observance and obedience to the rule of law, very sad.
Instead of the PDP which has in its fold, elected senators, house of representative members, governors and states house of assembly members who are financially endowed to come together and pay off the debt, to bury their heads in shame for the embarrassment suffered by the party for it's failure to pay its ground rent of about 10 years, with the sealing up of its national headquarters, Damagum and Bode George, just like the Gbajue movement of force of lies, falsehood and misinformation of the 2023 presidential election, apology to Prof Wole Soyinka, are threatening fire and brimstone, what a shame.
Well, fortunately for the ground rent defaulters, Mr President has graciously intervened with the FCTA giving all the onigbeses including the ogboju alainitiju PDP 14 days to redeem their arrears in ground rent, otherwise the law will take it's full course and the shameless empty noise and blackmail of Damagum, Bode George and others who might want to join the choir against FCTA, will amount to an exercise in futility.
To the PDP, we ask again, how shameless can political party leaders be?
