APC Local Government Councils Primary holds today
Anxiety Mounts over Likely Exclusion of Alimosho LG/LCDAs
As the Lagos State chapter of the All Progressive Congress (APC) holds it's local government council primary election today to choose the party's flag bearers for the upcoming 57 LGs/LCDAs July 12 2025 local government election by LASIEC in the state, information filtering in has it that Alimosho local government council and local council development areas among others might be excluded from the exercise today due to security report.
According to our correspondent who is on ground at the primary election venue at the party's State secretariat in Acme Ogba, Lagos, the rumoured exclusion of Alimosho LG and LCDAs is already generating tension at the venue as the delegates from Alimosho who arrived for the exercise have been unattended to, left wondering and agitated while delegates from other local government council areas and local council development areas are being accredited and allowed into the venue.
Our correspondent who spoke to one of the delegates from Agbado Oke-odo LCDA which is in Alimosho LG, said the delegate queried the authenticity of the security report which is being rumoured as a reason why Alimosho local government council and local council development areas is being excluded from the exercise today.
According to him, the security report is unfounded and a contradiction of the reality on ground, because all the 27 delegates and agents of the 8 chairmanship aspirants from one of the LCDA, were convened to the primary venue in a single bus which reflected the family brotherhood and oneness existing within the party though they have different preferences.
The delegate linked the source of his information on the security report on Alimosho LG and LCDAs to the electoral committee chairman Barrister Babatunde Ogala informing Alimosho LG APC chairman Mr Fatoki that primary election will not hold in Alimosho, Agege, Ojo LGs and some others.
Though, we were unable to contact Barrister Babatunde Ogala or any electoral committee members to confirm the authenticity of this information before going to press because they were very busy with the election process, the news has ignited tension at the primary election venue as some delegates are insinuating that this might be a ploy by some powerful forces within the party to manipulate the process in favour of their preferred aspirants, with accusing fingers being pointed in the direction of the speaker of the Lagos State house of assembly Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa and a former member of the assembly Hon. Bisi Yusuf.
Right now, the election accreditation process for some other local government council and local council development areas is ongoing at the venue, as we keep tab on developments at the venue.
