Christmas: WAPA urges women to be kind to less privileged

The Commissioner of Lagos State Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA), Mrs Bolaji Dada, has urged women to show kindness to one another, particularly to those who are less privileged.

Dada made the call in a statement signed by her on Wednesday in Lagos.

The commissioner, while wishing women a joyous celebration, said it was a time for reflection, gratitude and unity.

She said that women were the backbone of families, communities, and the state at large.

Appreciating women's resilience and contributions to the growth and development of society,  Dada said their hard work, compassion and commitment to excellence was an inspiration to everyone.

The WAPA commissioner pledged the state's commitment to eradicate poverty, and empower women through targeted initiatives including skill acquisition and financial assistance programmes.

"We are equipping women with the resources to achieve economic independence and contribute meaningfully to the prosperity of Lagos.

"Furthermore, the government remains resolute in safeguarding the rights of women.

"We continue to strengthen policies and enforcement mechanisms to create a safe environment where every woman can thrive without fear of discrimination, violence or marginalisation," she said.
