Ounje Eko 25% foodstuffs discount markets witness huge turnout of buyers
The reintroduced Ounje Eko 25% foodstuffs discount markets across the 57 LG's/LCDA's today Sunday 15th September 2024, witnessed a massive turnout of buyers at the various centers.
Recall that the 25% foodstuffs discount markets by the Lagos State government to cushion the economic challenges of Nigerians made a return on the 1st of September 2024 and since then, the turnout of buyers in the centers have continued on the upward swing.
Our correspondents who visited some of the centers at Orile Agege, Agege, Ayobo, Alimosho, Agbado Oke Odo and Oshodi Isolo LG's/LCDA's, reported that the huge turnout resulted in long queues of buyers patronizing all items for sale ranging from crates of eggs, tomato, 2 variants of pepper: tatase and ata rodo, onions, 5kg of garri, rice and beans as well as loaves of bread which were all bought out as early as 2pm in some of the centres.
There was orderliness and peaceful conduct of business transactions in all the centres visited as men and operatives of the Nigeria police force, Lagos State Neighborhood and Safety Corp (LNSC), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp and the Lagos State Traffic Management Agency (LASTMA) provided security and ensured free flow of traffic.
It is also worthy to note that Lagosians have continued to shower praises on the Lagos State government for the 25% foodstuffs discount markets which they described as a big economic relief at this season, in terms of price compared to the prevailing market prices of foodstuffs just as they pleaded for the intervention to be a continuous exercise.
