Ounje Eko 25% Food Stuffs Discount Market Makes a Return, as Lagosians Troop to Centres to make Purchases

.......Lagosians call for continuity of exercise

Lagosians on Sunday 1st of September, 2024 trooped out in large numbers to the various Ounje Eko 25% food stuffs discount markets across the 57 local government council areas and development council areas of the state to make purchases as the initiative of the Lagos State government meant to cushion the economic hardship, by offering foodstuffs at 25% discount price, made a return.

Our correspondents who monitored the exercise at some of the centres, reported that the turnout of Lagosians was very impressive as foodstuffs such as rice, garri, beans, crates of eggs, pepper, tomato, onions and loaves of bread, were sold at 25% discount prices to buyers.

The markets were very orderly and peaceful as buyers conducted themselves within the parameters of the rules set by the organizers who were complimented by the operatives of the Lagos State Neighborhood Safety Corp (LNSC) USA, Lagos State traffic management authority (LASTMA) and the Nigeria police force who maintained law and order as well as ensure smooth traffic flow.

The Ounje Eko 25% foodstuffs discount is part of the Eko Cares programme of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu administration which encompasses transport fares 25% discount on government run transportation system of BRT buses and blue rail line train, medical care, distribution of palliatives, etc, all meant to impact positively on the well-being of the people.

The Ounje Eko 25% foodstuffs discount markets of the Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu administration had earlier in the year run for about two months and it received wide commendations from the citizenry for putting smiles on their faces amidst the biting economic crunch.

Some of the buyers spoken to by our correspondents, appreciated the Lagos State government for the return of the Ounje Eko 25% foodstuffs discount markets and appealed to the government to make it a continuous exercise because of its effects on their economic well-being.
