Less than 24 hours to 2024 Edo Decides
As the people of Edo State get ready to go to the polls in less than 24 hours from now to elect a brand new Governor on Saturday 21st September 2024, who will preside over the affairs of the state for the next 4 years, we can confidently report that everywhere is calm and peaceful.
The weather is clement, security is invisible and water tight, abeg if you know any body or group of people whose stock in trade is to forment trouble during elections, especially in Edo State, abeg, tell him and his group to go on leave of absence till after the election, because the kind of security presence wey my eyes don see for here, police even bring dogs come, if policeman pursue you and them no fit catch you because you sabi run like Usain Bolt and Carl Lewis, old boy, them go release these wild dogs wey I see them hold to pursue you and I doubt if you go fit run pass the dogs. If you are a trouble maker contractor, abeg quick quick tell those wey dey negotiate with you, say this election, na bad market, na God, I take beg you oh because I like you even though I no know you, a word is enough for the wise, na him dem talk.
For all the border states with Edo, army don beef up security, Nigerian Army no know whether you be APC, PDP, LP or SDP, if you do anyhow, you will see anyhow. Even EFCC dem full ground to combat vote buying, a vote buyer is as culpable as the seller, to borrow from the words of my friend GKB Osi Aare, na my 10 kobo be dat.
The people of Edo State even though the state government has declared today a work free day to enable people travel to their villages and communities where they registered, to be able to vote, are going about their personal business because elections will come and go, but existence will continue. There's no campaign of any sort, any where today, unlike yesterday where political parties stalwarts were still moving about in the streets campaigning. Campaign has ended officially 24 hours before the election.
The thing wey dey sweet me for this 2024 Edo State Gubernatorial Election campaign since I land here, be say, party A, campaign train go pass your front, if you go backyard, you go see party B people sef they go about with their own campaign, this world of free campaigns and no violence for the streets about who dey campaign or no dey campaign in about 72 to less than 24 hours to the election proper of Saturday 21st September 2024, dey sweet my belle like sugar and honey combined.
I go INEC office for Benin Auchi road, the pictures are attached, security tight there, a lot of activities are still going on there to ensure that tomorrow's election is peaceful, free, fair and credible. I even go the market beside INEC office, dem dey sell all sorts of foodstuffs there, e cheap pass for Lagos my obodo center of excellence, e hungry me to buy yam and banana but money dey do me ojoro.
Edo people, na una get Edo oh, me I just come look how una go vote again tomorrow like I dey always come every 4 years. Make una vote wisely, peacefully and orderly, me I be Lagos boy, na solidarity I come do with una because of democracy, make una make sure say, no violence, if you see anybody wey wan cause violence, quick quick report am to police, make him know say, this election no be sere sere.
The people of Edo State, I wish una all the best as una go out peacefully and orderly to cast una vote in a free, fair and credible election on Saturday 21st September 2024.
