Lagosians defy heavy downpour to attend 6th edition of Ounje Eko food discount market
Notwithstanding the heavy downpour in parts of Lagos today Sunday 21st April 2024, Lagosians trooped out to the Ounje Eko food markets across the 3 senatorial zones to purchase the 25% Lagos State government discounted food items like rice, beans, garri, crates of eggs, pepper, tomato, onions, and loaves of bread.
Today's edition of the Ounje Eko food discount market was the 6th since it's inception in March 2024.
Our correspondents who visited some of the centers as usual spoke to buyers who commended the Lagos State government for the initiative and demanded a continuation because of it's impact on citizens pocket as well as the pressure being exerted on the prices of similar foodstuffs at the regular markets, which is gradually reducing in prices.
Security operatives from the Nigeria police force, Lagos Neighborhood Safety Safety Corp and NSCDC were also on ground to provide security, while LASTMA operatives monitored traffic movements.
