Lagos INEC Holds Quarterly Consultative Meeting with CSO's

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Lagos State office on Wednesday 27th March 2024 held a quarterly consultative meeting with civil society organizations in Lagos State on it's activities and programmes.
The maiden meeting which took place at the commission's office in Lagos, had in attendance the new Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) Prof. Ayobami Salami and members of his management interfacing with members of the civil society organizations and soliciting their support and cooperation as the commission look ahead to preparations for the 2027 general elections.
The REC thanked the civil society organizations present for honouring the commission's invitation and appreciated them for the support and collaboration they have always extended to the commission in the discharge of its function, just as he advocated and hoped they will continue to work with the electoral umpire as partners in progress in the days ahead.
Prof Ayobami Salami made it known to the gathering that the meeting was one of the avenues through which INEC as a forward looking organization aims to engage and interface with the larger society through civil society organizations because of their grassroots reach for inputs, feedbacks and engagements on the electioneering process..
He revealed that whatever programme or activities the commission is embarking upon at the national level, will henceforth be escalated at the states in order to reach the people and obtain their feedbacks for improved performance in the discharge of the electoral umpire mandate.
Responding, some of the civil society organizations leaders present, thanked the commission for the engagement, commended INEC for its successful and credible conduct of the 2023 general elections, even as they pledged the readiness and commitment of the civil society organizations to work with INEC Lagos office in the discharge of its statutory mandate.
