HURIDAC GETS NYCN SUPPORT ON EYE PROJECT
A West African sub regional human rights and environmental concern organization, HURIDAC, today Thursday 15th February 2024 in Lagos got the pledge of support and collaboration from the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Lagos State chapter on the Election Youth Engagement (EYE) project.
The pledge of support and collaboration was made by the chairman of National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) Lagos State chapter Comrade Biliamin Lekan Oba when the Human Rights Advancement, Development and Advocacy Centre HURIDAC (EYE) project team led by Ms Mfon Enoidem visited the executives of the NYCN in its office in Lagos to solicit the support and buy in of the frontline youth organization in Nigeria.
Ms Mfon Enoidem at the meeting emphasized the essence of the EYE project which is about engendering youths participation in politics and governance through holding political leaders at all levels accountable for their elections promises as we look forward to the 2027 general elections.
She informed her hosts of the steps taken so far in the implementation of the EYE project which started with the training of participants drawn from selected institutions of higher learning in Lagos like UNILAG, LASU, NIJ, YABATECH, LASUSTECH, etc as well as the launch of a training app to educate, sensitize and engage the participants.
Ms Mfon Enoidem made it known that HURIDAC is seeking the support and collaboration of the NYCN Lagos State chapter as a window to reaching more youths in order to engender their participation in politics and governance.
Comrade Biliamin Lekan Oba who received the HURIDAC team in his office, in company of his executive members such as the vice chairman Lagos Central Comrade Prince Adeyemi Adesegun, vice chairman Lagos West Comrade Ademosu Jamiu, Secretary Comrade Agbaje Abdulhakeem, the PRO Comrade Abiodun Ajayi and the auditor Comrade Bakare Habeeb, all took turns to lament the non active participation of youths in politics, but who devote their time to social media politics which is far from reality.
The Lagos State chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, applauded HURIDAC for seeking our NYCN which is a youth organization that has structures in the 57 local government council and local council development areas of Lagos state. HURIDAC was also commended for the EYE project which is about the development of the youth.
The Lagos State chapter of NYCN then used the occasion of the courtesy visit to assure the HURIDAC team of the preparedness of the chapter to support and collaborate in achieving the goals and vision of the EYE project.
The highlight of the occasion was conferment of election ambassadors by the HURIDAC team leader Ms Mfon Enoidem on the chairman Comrade Biliamin Lekan Oba and his executive members of the Lagos State chapter of NYCN and the presentation of memorabilia.
