Minister for Women Affairs, Barr. Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye Received by Anambra APC as She Visits Home State
The Honourable Minister for Women Affairs on Wednesday touched down in Anambra State, her home state, for the first time since her inauguration as Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. She was received by the members of the Anambra State Working Committee led by the State Chairman of the Party, Chief Sir Basil Ejidike.
She proceeded immediately to the Glass House Secretariat of the party in Awka to meet for the first time with the State Executive Committee of the party comprising SWC members, Zonal officers and local government officials. It was a jubilant and expectant atmosphere as the party stakeholders welcome their daughter back home.
In her speech, Barr. Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye thanked her people for the warm reception accorded her even at short notice. She went on to state that as a mother, her priority would be to help galvanise the APC in Anambra State to become truly united like one family. The Minister explained to the stakeholders the very key mandate President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has entrusted to her as regards the wellbeing of women and children.
She appealed to the party chieftains to eschew every form of infighting, strife and be each brothers keeper. She promised to make Anambra proud by bringing on board new policies and innovations into her work as Minister of a crucial but often underutilised ministry like the Ministry of Women Affairs, especially one's that will significantly touch the lives of our women economically.
Barr. Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye briefly highlighted some of the huge plans she has in stock and called on her people for maximum support and prayers to succeed.
State Chairman of the party in Anambra State, Chief Basil Ejidike thanked the Minister for honouring the State Executive Committee with her presence and promised to continue to support her in every way possible to succeed in her ministerial duties. The Chairman also thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for finding her worthy to be appointed as Minister for Women Affairs.
Shortly after leaving the party Secretariat, Barr. Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye headed to the Awka Correctional Center to visit female inmates and other inmates in the facility.
